MRC conducts fundamental scientific research into the enabling technologies of mechatronics and applied research into the design and embodiment of intelligent systems, machines and processes. It undertakes research for many industry sectors that is also supported research councils, EU, government departments and charities.

An established pioneer of multi-disciplinary design activities, Loughborough was one of the first UK universities to embrace Mechatronics and has developed MSc and industrial short courses, undergraduate degree themes, and a vibrant research base.
